College Goal Sunday A Success!
Hello all! The federal TRiO Programs and Arkansas Northeastern College staff members recently hosted the annual College Goal Sunday event! It is a one day event where students and their families can be assisted with completing the FAFSA (financial aid application). We had over 180 students and family members attend and electronically filed many, many FAFSA applications!

TRiO Advisors Are Just a Call Away!
The TRiO Program Education Advisors are out visiting potential college students and high school students every day. Educational Talent Search advisors, Cathy Lee, Susan Dryer, and Erin Hill have been taking students in 6th through 12th grades on field trips to the FedEx Forum, Parker Homestead, and college campuses! Advisor, Kristen Shelton, has just had a new baby boy and will be visiting her schools after Christmas-
Talent Search students have visited Williams Baptist College, Arkansas Northeastern College, Southeast Missouri State University, and Arkansas State University this fall. There will be many more field trips after Christmas, so check with your advisor regularly!
Educational Opportunity Center Advisors assist adults who want to enter a post-secondary school anywhere! Denese Bogard, Tonya Harris, and Nancy Fergus travel five counties assisting with financial aid applications and admissions to all schools. They are regularly providing services in Mississippi, Greene, and Poinsett counties in Arkansas, and Dunklin and Pemiscot counties in the bootheel of Missouri.

Talent Search advisors, Cathy Lee, Erin Hill, Kristen Shelton, and Susan Dryer have visited all of their schools and made contact with 6th through 12th graders in 13 school districts! Talent Search says hello to:
Armorel, Blytheville, Gosnell, Manila, EPC, Osceola, Rivercrest, Caruthersville, Cooter, Delta C-7, Hayti, and North and South Pemiscot students!
The advisors have so much planned for the 2008-2009 school year! Fun, activities, field trips, special "road trips" to college campuses and other cultural sites, like Parker Homestead, where butter is churned and kettle corn is cooked on an outside, open fire. Stay in touch with your Talent Search advisor!

Rising Senior Workshop August 7th
Talent Search rising seniors need to sign up now for a mandatory workshop in August! If you are a Talent Search participant who just completed the eleventh grade, this workshop is for you!
We will have activities and workshops on college admissions, financial aid applications, applying for a PIN number for your federal financial aid, and how to write a resume for your college applications.

Talent Search Summer Camp Approaching!!
The 2008 Talent Search Summer Camp on the Arkansas Northeastern College campus is fast approaching! If you are a Talent Search participant and will be entering the 9th grade this fall, you can attend the day-camp!
This camp focuses on a fun topic...algebra! Ha! This week-long camp will focus on learning more about algebra in active and fun ways. We will have wonderful teachers and fun activities where you may practice the principles learned in the classroom.
